About the Photoboard

The online photoboard is built and maintained by Mark Rowatt Anderson, a community member living in Findhorn village, who created the original photoboard in 2002 as part of the Community’s 40th birthday celebrations.

Talking about the original photoboard, Mark says

I started the original photoboard because I thought it would be nice for community members returning for the birthday celebrations to be able to quickly see who was who. It was also a great way for me to get to meet people!

The photoboard originally had about 180 people, but quickly outgrew its space in the community centre, and was relocated to the Universal Hall, where it is still on show.

The 2002 photoboard in the community centre

As part of the upcoming 50th birthday celebrations in 2012, Mark has created this online version of the photoboard.

This photoboard is open to all full individual NFA members and all employees of NFA organisational members (e.g. Findhorn Foundation, the Phoenix, Findhorn Flower Essences, Duneland etc).

If you would like to be on the photoboard, please fill in the sign up form.

About the technology

The photoboard is built using WordPress. The bulk of the site (such as this page) is a fairly standard WordPress setup, but the photoboard itself is custom coded in PHP and jQuery. See here for more information about the technologies used.
